What an impressive disc this is! None of the music is exactly ‘rare’ but the four violin sonatas combined here make for a fascinating and intelligent programme creating interesting contrasts and juxtapositions in the listener’s mind. Then there is the playing which is just superb. Again intelligent springs to mind from both violinist Friederike Starkloff and pianist Endri Nini but to achieve their musical and expressive goals both players have formidable techniques and a willingness to play at the expressive extremes of their instruments… Every single aspect of this release is absolutely top drawer…

Claude Debussy: Here, the fantastic violin-piano duo works its magic with the finest, iridescent sounds, the most delicate nuances and a wide range of expression – just as the composer probably dreamed of for his musical universe.

A great chamber music CD with two brilliant performers and an exciting repertoire away from the mainstream – compliments!

Nord-West Zeitung

In Beethoven’s Gassenhauer-Trio, as well as in the following Violin Sonata in A major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, pianist Endri Nini shows himself to be a great musical nuance giver and great virtuoso co-creator… A roaringly accentuated sound celebration with foaming cascades in the piano and an unpretentious violinist Friederike Starkloff who rises above every technical hurdle. A real chamber music moment of glory.

These two musicians [Antoaneta Emanuilova and Endri Nini] work so well together that their performance matches the best I have heard over these many years. Their balances of phrasing and volume bring out the conversational aspect of this remarkable romantic music in a highly enjoyable and intimate way.

…the duo finds a delicate approach towards the works [Beethoven, Brahms and Schmann], which reveals also a certain vulnerability and sensibility…Antoaneta Emanuilova and Endri Nini energetically throw themselves into this pulsating flow of music, never losing their attention to every detail.

Friederike Starkloff and Endri Nini create these jagged psyches with such intensity and at the same time very delicately and unobtrusively that one is completely drawn into not only the musical world of these sonatas, but into the whole mood or rather ‘moodiness’ of a time, a world.

Starkloff and Nini’s interpretations present the pieces with the exciting gesture inherent in them.

Starkloff and Nini make this music [Mozart, Debussy, Schulhoff and Antheil] shine, scream, cry, laugh – and amaze the audience.

This really is an album that is very demanding but also picks up on current emotional worlds. In times of complex conflicts and wars, the indescribable becomes music…
